*An innovation on the 10 May 2024 to award contest points considered towards the Tom West Challenge and Veterens Cups will only take account of Roach, Perch and Tench at the weigh-in. Carp will not be eligible for points on this particular day although notable specimens will be recorded and will qualify for the Presidents Shield (largest fish caught in any competition on home waters). Two keep nets may be advisable.

Newbridge on Wye
A catch and release policy applies at Newbridge on Wye. All permitted baits under E.A. Bylaws for trout and coarse fish are normally permitted (Artificial Flies, worms, bread, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, etc.) except for the following which are strictly prohibited :- Spinning at any time, the use of worms in October, the use of maggots before October.
Newbridge meetings, members gather at Brynwern Bridge to set off at 10.00 am. Organiser Richard Stowe ( 07967 170040), local contact Lance Burton (07775 735355).
Brynwern Bridge is on the Wye just downstream of Newbridge. Leaving Newbridge towards Builth Wells turn right (signposted) just before the end of the speed restriction then right again (signposted) after a few hundred yards. Continue along this narrow road for about half a mile until you reach the bridge.
