The Honorary Secretary of the Society will assume the role of the Data Controller (until such time as the Society appoints a dedicated Data Protection Officer) and will oversee compliance with data protection law and will act as a point of contact for members and the Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”) as necessary.
A member may request that they are provided with a copy of all personal data that the Society holds about them and the Secretary shall promptly provide a copy of all information required to be disclosed by law.
A member may request rectification of any incorrect personal data held by the Society about them and the Secretary shall promptly consider such a request and respond to it in accordance with the law.
A member may object to the Society regarding some or all of its processing of their personal data by withdrawing their consent and the Secretary shall promptly consider such an objection and respond to it in accordance with the law.
Where a member resigns from the Society their personal data will be deleted as set out in the Data Protection Privacy Notice.
As a membership Society the Izaak Walton shares personal data within the organisation in fulfilment of its obligations under its published Constitution and Rules. It will not share the personal data of its members with external third parties.
The Society shall publish a Data Protection Privacy Notice and make it readily available when required. The notice will comply with data protection law and include how personal data will be used by the Society and include details of the Society’s Data Protection Officer.
The Society will periodically review the security of its records and data processing activities and shall take appropriate steps to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the personal data that it holds.
Actual or potential breaches of this policy, or of data protection law by the Society, shall be reported immediately to the Data Protection Officer. Breaches shall be reported if required by the Data Protection Officer to the member or members whose data is affected and appropriate action agreed.
